About the Transporter

The Slim Devices Transporter is a high-end network music player and standalone digital-to-analog converter. It combines 802.11g Wi‑Fi with 10/100 Ethernet networking and includes a 325 MHz eight-way multithreaded RISC processor, 64 MB of RAM, and flash-upgradable firmware. Its AKM AK4396 multibit delta-sigma DAC supports 24-bit audio, while digital inputs include TosLink, coaxial and BNC S/PDIF, AES/EBU, and word-clock; corresponding digital outputs include TosLink, coaxial, BNC S/PDIF, and AES/EBU. Analog output is available through balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA connectors, with volume control provided for all outputs. The Transporter supports linear PCM at 16- or 24-bit resolution and 44.1, 48, 88.2, and 96 kHz sample rates, as well as WAV, AIFF, MP3, WMA, and FLAC playback. It features dual configurable displays, a tactile front-panel navigation knob, infrared and RS-232 control connections, and an aircraft-grade anodized-aluminum chassis available in black or natural aluminum finishes. Dimensions are 17 inches wide by 3 inches high by 12.25 inches deep; shipping weight is approximately 11 pounds. The model is discontinued.
