About the DP-EC8
The Mitsubishi DP-EC8 is a vintage high-fidelity record player manufactured in Japan between 1982 and 1984. It is a fully automatic, direct drive turntable with quartz lock for precise speed control. The unit supports two speeds and includes a repeat feature. It features a straight tone arm designed to minimize resonance, with an aluminum base and a carbon fiber headshell. The turntable has an automatic disc size selector using an optical sensor located at the rear left corner of the plinth, allowing the user to operate it easily via push buttons that control tonearm movement and playback functions. The DP-EC8 was considered one of Mitsubishi's top models for non-linear tracking turntables and originally retailed for approximately 648 Deutsche Marks. It typically comes with an Empire 2000E/III cartridge with a stylus from Japan. The turntable measures 424 mm wide, 115 mm high, and 378 mm deep, weighing about 7.0 kg. It consumes 11W of power at AC 100V 50/60Hz. The dust cover is sold separately as model HX-440. This model is well regarded for its build quality, sound performance, and relatively compact footprint compared to other turntables of its era.
