About the RX5000

The Micro Seiki RX-5000 is a high-end turntable platter unit designed to work with the separate RY-5500 remote motor unit. Manufactured in Japan between 1979 and 1985, it represents a pinnacle of analog turntable engineering focused on vibration control and rotational stability. The turntable features a massive 16kg gunmetal platter (85% copper, 15% tin alloy) with exceptional internal damping properties. The design allows direct record placement on the platter without rubber matting, significantly improving sound quality in terms of positioning, resolution, and distortion. The turntable can accommodate up to four tonearms simultaneously with easily adjustable overhang, making it highly versatile for serious analog enthusiasts. The entire system weighs approximately 42.34kg for the platter unit alone, with the frame constructed from zinc for structural support. This is a drive unit without integrated tonearm or cartridge, requiring separate tonearm mounting via optional baseplates (AX-1G through AX-8G series).
