About the BL91

The Micro Seiki BL-91 is a vintage high-end turntable produced between 1979 and 1983 in Japan. It features a 2-speed belt drive system (33-1/3 and 45 rpm) with user-variable speed adjustment up to ±6%. The platter is a heavy 310 mm (12.2 inch) die-cast aluminum disc weighing 3.5 kg including the rubber mat, supported by special alloy bearings machined and polished with turbojet engine techniques. The entire rotating assembly is isolated using an exclusive oil-bath damping system to minimize mechanical resonances and vibrations. The drive motor is a 4-pole, 6-slot outer rotor brushless servo-controlled motor designed for smooth, vibration-free operation. The base is constructed from multi-laminar natural wood with a hand-rubbed natural ebony veneer, mounted on four anti-feedback feet to reduce resonance transmission. The tonearm mounting plate is solid brass, weighing 1.5 kg, ensuring rigidity and minimal resonance, compatible with various quality tonearms. Power consumption is low at 4 watts max, with power requirements of 120, 200-240 V at 50/60 Hz. Dimensions are 532 x 440 x 175 mm (W x D x H) and weight is approximately 16 kg. The BL-91 is highly regarded for its engineering precision, low wow and flutter (0.025% WRMS), and signal-to-noise ratio of 75 dB, making it a prized collector's item and audiophile turntable.
