About the Orbe
The Michell Orbe turntable builds on the legacy of the GyroDec with enhanced isolation, structural damping, and an improved motor drive system. It features dual high-density acrylic bases separated by three pin points, a three-point spring suspension system with adjustable suspension towers, and a weighted pendulum style sub-chassis that acts as a resonance sink. The motor is housed separately from the turntable to prevent vibration transfer, connected only by a drive belt. The Orbe uses a 60mm thick massive acrylic/vinyl platter designed for high inertia and vibration damping. The main bearing is an inverted oil circulating design with a hardened steel spindle and brass body, lubricated continuously via a modified Archimedean screw mechanism. The power supply employs Michell's advanced Never Connected™ technology with servo motor control to maintain rock-solid speed stability. The turntable includes a hinged clear acrylic lid and a screw-down Orbe record clamp to flatten warped vinyl and reduce resonance. Dimensions are approximately 53cm width, 41cm depth, and 21cm height (lid closed), with a weight of 19kg. The Orbe is designed for audiophiles seeking exceptional detail, neutrality, and rhythm in vinyl playback, and is supported by Michell's long-term service and upgrade philosophy.
