About the MC1

The Magnepan MC1 is a multi-channel, 2-way planar/quasi ribbon speaker designed to be attached to or placed next to a wall or cabinet, making it ideal for rooms with limited floor space. It features a planar-magnetic driver for midbass to midrange frequencies and a quasi ribbon tweeter for detailed high frequencies, delivering a frequency response from 80Hz to 24kHz ±3dB. The speaker's design leverages boundary reinforcement when mounted on a wall to enhance bass performance down to 80Hz. It offers a sensitivity of 88dB at 500Hz/2.83V and an impedance of 4 ohms, recommended for amplifiers rated between 40 and 200 watts at 8 ohms. The MC1 can be folded out of the way when not in use and is compatible with Magneplanar woofers or self-powered subwoofers for full-range performance. It is well-suited for both serious music listening and immersive home theater applications, supporting 2-channel stereo and multi-channel surround sound. Available trim options include Black Wood, Natural Oak Wood, Dark Cherry Wood, and various classic colors, with fabric color options for customization.
