About the DWM

The Magnepan DWM is a planar-magnetic dipole bass panel (woofer), not a subwoofer, designed to expand the bass diaphragm area of Magnepan loudspeakers and improve bass and mid-bass quality from roughly 40–200 Hz. It uses a thin-film planar/magnetic driver with two voice-coil grids driving a single diaphragm, essentially functioning as a small section of the 20.7 bass driver to provide fast, articulate low frequencies that integrate seamlessly with full-range Maggies. Unlike conventional subwoofers intended mainly for output below about 40 Hz, the DWM is engineered to optimize the bass and lower midrange of Magneplanar speakers in music or home-theater systems, delivering smoother, more natural bass rather than exaggerated low end. The compact panel (about 19.25" H x 22.5" W x 1.25" D, 4-ohm load, 86 dB @ 2.83 V/1 m/50 Hz) can be used singly or in multiples and positioned for room-dependent phase and amplitude balance, making it a versatile way to tailor bass performance while maintaining Magnepan's slim, minimalist aesthetic.
