About the Atlas Lambda

The Lyra Atlas Lambda is a meticulously handcrafted moving coil cartridge designed by Jonathan Carr and built by Yoshinori Mishima. It features a medium weight, medium compliance, low-impedance design with a Lyra-designed long-footprint variable-radius line-contact nude diamond stylus mounted on a diamond-coated solid boron rod cantilever. The cartridge body is machined from a solid titanium billet with asymmetrical shaping and a phase-interference resonance-controlling mechanism to minimize unwanted resonances. The Atlas Lambda employs a yokeless dual magnet system and a new X-shaped coil former that enhances channel independence, improving tracking, channel separation, and reducing distortion. It uses Lyra's "New Angle" technology, mechanically pre-biasing the signal coils for optimal alignment during playback, equalizing vertical and horizontal compliance discrepancies. The cartridge delivers an output voltage of 0.56mV at 5cm/sec, covers a frequency range of 10Hz to 50kHz, and has a channel separation of 35dB or better at 1kHz. Recommended tracking force is 1.65 to 1.75 grams, with a cartridge weight of 11.6 grams. It is optimized for use with high-quality pivoted or linear tonearms with adjustable anti-skating and preferably VTA adjustment. The Atlas Lambda represents a significant advancement in LP playback performance, offering enhanced resolution, efficiency, and sonic purity.
