The Lexicon LX-5 is a high-performance 5-channel power amplifier designed for both stereo and home theater applications. It delivers 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms, with the first four channels bridgeable to provide 400 watts into 8 ohms, allowing flexible configurations such as driving a center speaker separately. It features four custom-designed, hand-graded output transistors per channel, an oversized toroidal power transformer with low DC resistance, and a high-power supply voltage of 160V for extra headroom. The amplifier includes advanced protections such as thermal protection, speaker protection against DC and frequencies below 10Hz, and safeguards against short circuits and miswiring. It supports stable operation with mismatched, reactive, or unusual loads down to 2 ohms, making it compatible with a wide range of speakers including Magnepans and electrostats. Inputs include selectable balanced (XLR), unbalanced (RCA), and 1/4-inch TRS connectors. Additional features include a ground lift switch, multi-color channel status LEDs, microprocessor-controlled forced-air cooling, and a trigger input for external power control. The LX-5 is THX Ultra certified, ensuring exceptional fidelity and dynamic range for music and film soundtracks. Dimensions are approximately 440 x 144 x 483 mm, and it weighs about 23.6 kg.
