About the CX5

The Lexicon CX-5 is a high-performance 5-channel power amplifier designed for home cinema and high-fidelity audio systems. Each channel delivers 140 watts into 8 ohms and is capable of driving speaker impedances as low as 2 ohms. The amplifier features four custom designed, hand-graded output transistors per channel and an oversized toroidal power transformer with low DC resistance for high power supply voltage and extra headroom. It includes advanced thermal, current, DC, and speaker protection to ensure reliability and safety, protecting against short circuits, component failures, miswiring, and internal faults. The rear panel offers selectable balanced (XLR) or unbalanced (RCA) audio inputs for each channel, gold-plated speaker output connectors, and a trigger input for remote power control. The front panel has dedicated LEDs for at-a-glance channel status monitoring. Additional features include a ground lift switch per channel to eliminate audible hum from grounding issues and rack-mount options. The CX-5 is THX Ultra2 certified, ensuring it meets stringent performance and sound standards for home theater use. It weighs approximately 47.1 lbs (21.4 kg).
