The Koetsu Blue Lace Onyx Platinum is a flagship, hand-built low-output moving coil phono cartridge featuring a blue onyx stone body, silver-plated 6N (99.9999%) copper coil wiring, platinum magnet, and boron cantilever, designed for ultimate analog performance. The blue onyx body is a rare agate onyx with blue, grey, and white layers of fused quartz, prized both for its visual beauty and its contribution to the cartridge's highly resolving yet natural sonic character. As a member of Koetsu's stone-body platinum series, it uses silver-clad 6N copper coils, where a silver sheath is drawn over ultra-pure copper to optimize conductivity and detail retrieval across the frequency range. The Blue Lace delivers an output of 0.3 mV, a frequency range of 20 Hz–100 kHz, channel separation of 25 dB at 1 kHz, and a low internal impedance of 5 Ω, with channel balance within 0.5 dB at 1 kHz for precise imaging. It weighs 12.5 g and offers a compliance of 5 × 10⁻⁶ cm/dyne at 100 Hz, making it best suited to medium-to-high effective-mass tonearms. Recommended vertical tracking force is 1.8–2.0 g, and recommended load impedance is 75–500 Ω, allowing flexible matching to a wide range of phono stages.
