About the LAP-150 Platinum

The Joule Electra LAP-150 Platinum is a tube line-stage preamplifier with an integrated OPS-1 tube phono section, derived from the LA-150 MKII/SE topology and upgraded to Platinum-level parts and wiring. It retains Joule Electra's Mu follower circuit with NOS 6350 tubes in the gain and Mu follower stages, using tube-regulated power supplies with 6EM7 regulator and OA2 voltage-reference tubes. Gain remains very low (around 11 dB, selectable via internal jumpers) with selectable output impedance of 400 or 1200 ohms. The LAP-150 adds a large outboard tube power supply chassis for the internal OPS-1 phono circuitry, connected via umbilical cord, plus remote-controlled volume and balance. It uses point-to-point wiring and premium coupling capacitors and internal wiring in the Platinum version to refine transparency, detail, and tonal richness.
