The JM Labs Mini Utopia is a high-end bookshelf or stand-mounted monitor speaker with a two-way bass-reflex design. It uses two 6.5" Focal woofers arranged in a midwoofer-tweeter-midwoofer (MTM) configuration around a 1" inverted dome Focal Tioxid tweeter, distinct from the tweeter used in the Electra line. The cabinet features a concave front baffle called "Focus Time" to optimize driver sound convergence at listening distance, with separate internal compartments for each driver to enhance rigidity and reduce resonance. The crossover is a third-order network with point-to-point wiring, handing off to the tweeter at 2.5 kHz. The woofers have sandwich-type cones made of fiberglass layers around a syntactic plastic foam core. Unique front-facing port slots are located above and below the tweeter area. Frequency response is rated from 50 Hz to 25 kHz ±3 dB, with an efficiency of 91.5 dB (2.83V/1M) and nominal impedance of 8 ohms (not dipping below 4 ohms). The cabinet side panels are made of Anigré, a dark-blonde African hardwood, and the speaker weighs approximately 26.5 kg (59 lbs).
