About the La Platine Vintage Granito Original Design
The La Platine Vintage Granito Original Design is a rare, limited series turntable from JC Verdier, originally conceived over 20 years ago. It features a solid plinth made of cast granito embedding the axle and three adjustable air spring feet. The platter, weighing nearly 16 kg, is levitated by a magnetic field generated by two repelling permanent magnets, eliminating mechanical contact and friction. The platter is driven by an external DC motor isolated from the turntable, connected via a fine nylon thread. This design ensures ultra-smooth rotation and exceptional sound quality with very low surface noise. The turntable can accommodate two tonearms and is known for its natural, highly resolved sound with excellent bass depth and clarity. The granito base was considered complicated and expensive to produce and lacked the aesthetic qualities expected for high-end HiFi, leading to its discontinuation and replacement by lacquered bases. However, due to demand, a small series of the original granito base design was produced and sold recently. This model is prized for its unique levitating platter and natural sound reproduction, making it a favorite among audiophiles seeking a blend of weight, finesse, and musicality.
