About the RS1B
The Infinity RS1B is a state-of-the-art loudspeaker system consisting of five sections per channel: two bass columns, two upper-range columns, and an active crossover and servo control module. Each bass column contains six 8-inch polypropylene woofers with servo network control. The upper-range columns include seven EMIM ribbon midrange drivers arranged in a dipole array and four EMIT ribbon tweeters, one of which faces rearward. The system uses a 6-way crossover with frequencies at approximately 140 Hz, 700 Hz, 3,000 Hz, and 8,000 Hz. It requires bi-amping with recommended amplifier power of at least 150 watts per channel for bass and 75 watts per channel for midrange/treble. The RS1B features a frequency response from 25 Hz to 32,000 Hz ±2 dB and a nominal impedance of 4 ohms. The cabinets are finished in hand-rubbed oiled oak veneers and solids. The system is large and heavy, with bass columns measuring 60" x 12" x 12" and upper-range columns 60" x 24" x 12". It is known for its expansive soundstage and detailed midrange but requires careful setup and a suitable room for optimal performance. The servo woofer system can damage amplifiers that invert polarity, so amplifier compatibility must be confirmed. The RS1B is no longer manufactured and is considered a vintage, collectible high-fidelity speaker system.
