About the Kappa 8

The Infinity Kappa 8 is a 4-way floorstanding loudspeaker from Infinity's original Kappa series, introduced around 1987 and no longer in production. It uses a 12-inch woofer, a 5-inch Polygraph-K mid-bass coupler, a 3-inch Polydome-K midrange, and two EMIT-K planar-magnetic tweeters (one front-firing and one rear-firing) in a tall, narrow cabinet with an integral pedestal. The system is specified for amplifiers delivering 50–250 watts per channel, has a nominal impedance in the 4–6 ohm range, a sensitivity of about 87–89 dB, and a frequency range of roughly 33 Hz to 45 kHz with crossover points near 90 Hz, 700–800 Hz, and 4.5–5 kHz. The enclosure is approximately 120 x 51 x 20 cm (about 47.5 x 20.5 x 8 in) and is often finished in furniture-grade, hand-rubbed oak veneer with a removable black cloth grille and tilted base.
