The Hsu Research HO 1220 Subwoofer features a 12-inch paper cone woofer housed in a 12-inch diameter by 51-inch tall cylinder covered in seamless black knit cloth. It is a passive design requiring an external amplifier and offers a frequency response of 20 Hz and up with a -6 dB point at the crossover frequency. The subwoofer has a power handling capacity of 250 W RMS from 18 Hz upwards and a nominal impedance of 4 ohms. Sensitivity is rated at 93 dB at 1 meter with 2.83V RMS in the mid to upper bass range. It includes black-anodized aluminum spiked feet for stability. The crossover is a line level 24 dB/octave Linkwitz-Riley low pass with a continuously variable frequency from 30 to 90 Hz, which can be bypassed. Inputs include gold-plated RCA jacks and 5-way binding posts for speaker and line level. The subwoofer weighs 36 lbs and comes with a 5-year warranty against manufacturing defects. It is praised for delivering high-end bass performance at a mid-fi price, making it suitable for most speakers and rooms, with the option to use dual units for larger spaces.
