About the Statement 1

The Grado Statement 1 phono cartridge utilizes reconfigured gold coil wires, a lower-mass, faster generating moving-iron system, a boron cantilever, and a diamond stylus cut specially for Grado, all housed in a machined Australian Jarrah wood body to optimize mass distribution and tonal qualities. With an output of 0.5 mV — the lowest Grado had offered at the time — it delivers authoritative bass dynamics, a rich and complex midrange, and an extended, delicate top-end with detailed imaging and a wide soundstage. It requires a phono stage with at least 56 dB gain and 47k ohm loading; recommended tracking force is 1.5 grams. The Statement 1 was hand-assembled in Brooklyn, NY, and is now discontinued, succeeded by the Statement3 and Statement4.
