About the Lunatec V3
The Grace Design Lunatec V3 is a portable, DC-powered two-channel microphone preamplifier combined with a high-definition analog-to-digital converter designed for professional audio applications such as concert taping, music recording, and location sound. It features the same microphone preamplifiers and transparent audio performance as the industry-standard Lunatec V2, enhanced with ultra-low distortion stereo 24-bit A/D conversion supporting sample rates from 44.1 kHz up to 192 kHz. Outputs include S/PDIF (RCA) and two sets of AES3 (XLR) connectors, supporting both single and dual-wire AES/EBU modes for high sample rate digital recording systems. The unit includes a unique ANSR dither circuit for high-quality word length reduction when recording to 16 or 20-bit digital recorders. It can operate in analog-only mode to conserve battery power by up to 40%. Additional features include dual 8-segment LED meters, recessed controls for durability, a rear panel BNC Word Clock output, and a locking DC power connector. The Lunatec V3 is powered by 6-12V DC and is designed for portability and rugged field use, with future expansion options for direct computer connectivity such as USB or Firewire. It is highly regarded for its clarity, depth, and low noise, making it suitable for sound designers, remote engineers, and classical recording professionals.
