The English Electric 8Switch is an audiophile-grade Ethernet switch designed to improve the quality of audio streaming by reducing jitter and noise. It features eight shielded gigabit Ethernet ports, making it suitable for demanding streaming setups. The switch is powered by a customized TCXO (Temperature Compensation Crystal Oscillator) with an accuracy of 0.1 ppm, significantly higher than standard TCXOs. This results in more stable network signals and up to 90% reduction in jitter compared to conventional switches. The power supply and clock generation circuits have dual electrical noise isolation, and an EMI absorber further reduces digital noise. The switch is housed in a machined aluminum enclosure, which provides excellent protection against acoustic and electrical noise. The A/V-grade power adapter is designed to minimize electrical noise from AC power and includes protections against short circuits, overloads, and over-voltage.
