About the DV2

The EMM Labs DV2 is a reference-grade integrated DAC with built-in high-resolution volume control (VControl), derived from the company's flagship DA2 but designed to drive power amplifiers directly without a separate preamp. It employs proprietary MDAC2 discrete dual-differential single-bit converters operating at 16xDSD (DSD1024) together with the MDAT2 DSP for real-time transient detection and adaptive filtering, eliminating user-selectable filters while continuously optimizing response. All inputs support PCM up to 24-bit/192kHz and DSD64, while the USB Type-B input additionally handles DXD (352.8/384kHz), DSD128 (2xDSD), and full MQA decoding and rendering, with EMM's MFAST jitter-removal and MCLK2 master clock architecture ensuring extremely low jitter performance. A galvanically isolated USB interface, user-controllable polarity inversion in the digital domain, and custom aerospace-grade ceramic circuit boards are standard, along with robust, fully machined aluminum chassis construction. Digital inputs comprise AES/EBU, two coaxial S/PDIF, two TosLink S/PDIF, USB Type-B, and EMM Optilink for CD/SACD transport connection, feeding balanced XLR and single-ended RCA analog outputs with high/low gain settings so the DV2 can function as both DAC and preamplifier in a minimalist system. Designed and manufactured in Canada, the DV2 is widely regarded in high-end audio circles as a benchmark DAC-preamplifier for state-of-the-art two-channel systems.
