About the CDV-2

The Dynaco CDV-2 is a tube-output CD player that succeeded the earlier CDV-1 and uses a pair of 6922/E88CC tubes in its analog output stage instead of the 6DJ8 tubes used in the CDV-1. This model incorporates an upgraded Philips CD transport and a revised printed circuit layout compared with its predecessor, along with a higher-grade front-panel volume control designed to reduce channel mistracking at low levels. It provides both fixed and variable analog outputs, allowing it to be connected directly to a power amplifier and used without a separate preamp when desired. The CDV-2 is noted in contemporary reviews for a smooth, tube-like presentation with a strong, clear midrange and good clarity on vocals, while maintaining solid overall bass and treble performance for typical home listening. As a late-1990s Panor/Dynaco design, it is a conventional Red Book CD player without HDCD decoding, positioned as the mid-line tube CD player in the revived Dynaco range.
