About the Paganini Transport

The dCS Paganini Transport is an upsampling CD/SACD transport built to the highest specification, featuring a sleek solid aluminium fascia, thick aluminium casing, metal buttons and a smooth transport mechanism. Its TEAC Esoteric UMK5 drive is robustly constructed with a metal tray built specially for dCS, and all signal processing and electronics are designed and developed in-house. The Transport upsamples Red Book CD data to DSD and plays SACDs in their native format, transmitting DSD over the IEEE 1394 and Dual AES interfaces; native CD data and downsampled SACD data are also available from four PCM outputs (2x AES3 and 2x S/PDIF). It is intended for use with the matching Paganini DAC or any suitable industry-standard DAC, and can run in Master mode or be clocked by the DAC, with performance further enhanced by adding the Paganini Master Clock. A multi-mode Phase-Locked-Loop (PLL) significantly reduces clock jitter, the aerospace-grade aluminium chassis with laminated acoustic damping panels reduces vibration and magnetic effects, and dCS's 'soft' approach to programmable logic allows new software and features to be loaded as digital formats evolve.
