About the Debussy
The dCS Debussy is a single-box digital-to-analogue converter designed to be the hub of a digital playback system and, when launched, the entry point to the world of dCS. It combines the proprietary dCS Ring DAC - which oversamples all incoming data to 5-bit at 2.822 or 3.07MS/s, as in the Scarlatti, Paganini and Puccini ranges - with dCS's award-winning asynchronous USB technology in one chassis. Debussy features standard AES3, Dual AES and S/PDIF inputs alongside a USB 2.0 interface that supports high-resolution audio up to 24-bit/384kS/s and DSD/128 in DoP format; in asynchronous USB mode it synchronises the audio via a feedback pipe so the computer is locked to the audio device for dramatically lower jitter. A digital volume control allows direct connection to a power amplifier, in most cases removing the need for a preamplifier, with maximum output switchable between two and six volts to suit different amplifier and loudspeaker combinations. Two filters offer a choice of linear phase with pre-ringing or non-linear phase without pre-ringing. Debussy can be locked to an external Word Clock signal generated by a dCS Master Clock for a substantial performance improvement, and benefits from dCS's 'soft' approach to programmable logic, allowing new features to be added via software update. The chassis is built to the highest specification with a solid aluminium fascia, high-grade aluminium casing and metal buttons.
