The DBX 4BX is a versatile audio processing unit that divides the audio spectrum into three frequency bands: high frequencies (HF), mid-frequencies (MF), and low frequencies (LF). It allows users to adjust the expansion level, transition level, and impact restoration, which helps in recovering the initial transient of live performances that may be lost during recording or mixing. The unit includes features like remote control and is not a noise reduction unit like other dbx models (e.g., Type I or Type II).
