About the NHB-108B
The darTZeel NHB-108B Power Amplifier is a refined version of the NHB-108 Model One, designed with three main criteria: simplicity, purity, and reliability. It features a dual-mono design with two 300VA transformers and large filter capacitors per channel, connected by polished 24-carat gold crescent-shaped bus bars. The amplifier uses a minimal number of bipolar output devices per channel to reduce signal path length and distortion. It delivers 100 watts RMS per channel into 8 ohms (160 watts into 4 ohms) with a small percentage of class-A power. The NHB-108B includes XLR, RCA, and proprietary Zeel BNC inputs (50 ohms) optimized for use with darTZeel preamplifiers. It has a very wide bandwidth of 1 Hz to 1 MHz (+0/-6 dB), very low output impedance (<0.33 ohms), and minimal temporal distortion. The amplifier also features crowbar protection circuitry to guard against excessive current and voltage drift. Speaker impedance matching is adjustable via internal settings. The chassis includes a toughened mineral glass top panel showcasing the internal layout and gold bus bars. The NHB-108B weighs about 65 pounds and measures approximately 17 1/4" W x 6 3/4" H x 13 1/5" D. It is praised for its warm, tonally balanced sound with tube-like qualities and exceptional transient response, making it suitable for extended listening sessions without fatigue.
