The Burmester 100 Top Phono Preamplifier is a high-end modular phono stage from Burmester's Top Line, developed by Dieter Burmester as the spiritual successor to the classic 838 phono stage from the 1980s. It is designed to deliver reference-level analogue playback and also enables high-quality digital archiving of vinyl collections via an optional ADC module. The 100 offers up to two balanced phono input modules on XLR, configurable as MM or MC at order, with extensive options for gain, input impedance (for MC) and input capacitance (for MM) to precisely match a wide range of cartridges. Its fully balanced circuit topology and separate, optimized MM/MC modules provide low noise and high transparency. In addition to its analogue outputs (1x balanced XLR, 1x unbalanced RCA), the 100 can be fitted with an AD converter that adds multiple digital outputs (RCA, optical, USB) to transfer the phono signal to digital recorders or computers without sacrificing quality. The distinctive chrome front panel with long toggle switches underscores Burmester's design language.
