About the Aikido Tube
The Blair Chapman Aikido Tube Preamp is a high-fidelity preamplifier designed and built by Dallas-Fort Worth tube designer Blair Chapman. It uses an Aikido 9-pin design with four clear top 12AU7 tubes. The preamp includes 3 inputs and 1 output with WBT RCA connectors, an isolated regulated filament supply, Nichicon power supply capacitors, and a 16 gauge steel top plate. The volume control is a 200k conductive plastic pot with tighter tolerance than Alps blue 27k pots, sealed to prevent degradation. The chassis features beautiful oak/hickory woodwork on the front and sides. It is known for fantastic sound quality, driving powered monitors effectively, and has no remote control. The unit weighs about 20 lbs and ships from Plano, TX. It was offered around locally but prices may vary.
