The Apogee Acoustics Definitive is a very large, high-end, three-way planar/ribbon loudspeaker system designed as a full-range reference monitor. It uses field-focused ribbon/planar drivers in a CNC-machined steel frame faced with Corian. The system is supplied as an actively crossed-over, tri-amplified design rather than a conventional passive loudspeaker: it includes a DEQX PDC2.6 preamp/active-crossover and room-correction unit, permanently attached speaker cables, and requires six channels of amplification and signal cabling.
