About the Mini Grand
The Apogee Mini Grand is the smallest and least expensive model in Apogee's Grand Series, produced from approximately 1992 to 1998. It consists of the acclaimed 'Stage' full-range ribbon speakers mounted on dedicated stereo subwoofer stands that also serve as subwoofer enclosures. The system is three-way: two patented ribbon drivers reproduce frequencies above 80Hz, while frequencies below 80Hz are handled by the Mini Grand subwoofer system, which uses two custom 8" woofers per cabinet. The Stage speaker features a 26" ribbon midrange/tweeter handling frequencies above 600Hz and a dipolar electrodynamic driver below that frequency. The subwoofers are reflex-loaded and designed to match the Stage speakers. An external DAX electronic crossover manages the frequency division at 80Hz. The Stage sits atop the subwoofer on brackets allowing variable tilt-back for optimal setup. The Mini Grand offers a frequency response from 25Hz (-3dB) to over 25kHz, with an impedance nominally around 3 to 4 ohms. Originally
