About the Grand
The Apogee Acoustics Grand was the company's flagship, largest, heaviest, and most complex speaker system ever designed, introduced at CES Chicago in June 1991. Only about 25 pairs were sold. It is a 4-way fully active speaker with remote control for adjusting absolute phase, volume level of each driver, and frequency response tilt. The system features patented sine-wave ribbon drivers covering bass, midrange, and tweeter frequencies, integrated with dual 12" woofers in a sealed enclosure driven by built-in Krell amplifiers. It delivers a frequency response from below 18Hz to over 27kHz, maximum sound level of 120dB at 4 meters, and weighs approximately 1300 lbs per system. Available finishes include Mahogany, Oak, Hi-Gloss, or exotic woods.
