About the Caliper Signature

The Apogee Caliper Signature is an advanced version of the original Caliper loudspeaker, designed by Leo Spiegel. It features an improved electronic shaping circuit that subtly shapes the near-field response with a response hinge around 1kHz, output dropping about -2.5dB by 5-6kHz, then rising again to nominal levels between 12 and 20kHz, resulting in a smooth far-field response and low group delay. The midrange/tweeter ribbon's acoustic baffling was carefully reworked with wood blocks to achieve a cleaner, smoother midrange. The bass ribbon was redesigned to lower impedance from over 4 ohms to about 3 ohms and made slightly heavier, improving sensitivity by approximately 4dB. Sensitivity is around 80dB for 1 watt at 1 meter anechoic, and 86-87dB in-room. The Caliper Signature is a two-way, full-range ribbon speaker with exceptional clarity, dynamic range, and bass handling for a mid-sized monitor class speaker. It is known for its remarkable transparency and smooth sound signature.
