Mitsubishi is a historic Japanese industrial group founded by Yataro Iwasaki in 1870, initially as a shipping company. Over more than 150 years, Mitsubishi diversified widely, with operations spanning shipping, mining, shipbuilding, finance, electronics, and automobiles. Mitsubishi became particularly well-known worldwide through Mitsubishi Motors, a major automaker established from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in 1970. The company's three-diamond logo symbolizes reliability, innovation, and a legacy of diversified manufacturing and technology leadership. Mitsubishi Group companies are today active in multiple global industries, though they operate independently since the original conglomerate was dissolved after WWII.
