About the Artisan

ZYX Artisan is a Japanese, battery-powered phono preamplifier for moving-magnet and moving-coil phono cartridges. It uses a passive CR-type RIAA equalization network, FET gain stages, and a low-noise battery-based power supply. The unit has separate MC and MM inputs, a single unbalanced RCA output, and a wooden chassis. ZYX’s official news information states that the Artisan product was deleted because it is discontinued; remaining examples are therefore generally used or dealer-held stock. Some later listings describe a Premium Artisan variant, which should not be confused with the standard Artisan.
