About the Libtec
Zu Libtec is a high-conductance loudspeaker cable designed to complement a wide range of hi-fi and studio loudspeaker/amplifier systems, from low-power tube amps with high-efficiency speakers to high-current solid-state setups. It uses Zu's ZuB3 E&M cable architecture to reduce noise, improve bandwidth, and maintain more linear capacitive and inductive behavior through carefully revised conductor geometry, characteristic impedance, and dielectric choices. The cable is relatively small in diameter yet aimed at delivering increased resolution, transparent tone, and improved stereophonic imaging without adding its own character or masking system issues. Libtec is directional (amp-to-speaker with the logo oriented for easy reading), employs Teflon insulation which contributes to a relatively slow burn-in process, and typically requires an extended run-in period before reaching optimum performance. Construction and terminations are maintenance-free apart from a recommended annual cleaning of copper spade connectors using non-acid cleaners. Libtec was Zu's second loudspeaker cable to feature ZuB3 E&M design, following Wax introduced around 2001, and over its life it has been manufactured at all of Zu's facilities. The model now appears only in Zu's Classic Cables section, listed as out of stock and effectively archived as a discontinued product.
