The Zu Audio Omen Def Mk. 1-B is a high-efficiency, direct-radiating floor-standing loudspeaker system that uses dual 10-1/3 inch full-range nanotech drivers (Zu103ND/G1-16) developed for Zu's flagship models, combined with a dynamic phenolic-composite dome tweeter with a machined billet lens for high-frequency sparkle and resolution above 10 kHz. It features Zu's Definition architecture and ZuGriewe driver/box/room acoustic loading technology, with no crossover or filters on the full-range drivers, preserving a pure full-range sound. The drivers have a high-output motor assembly, 16 ohm magnetically neutral-hung voice coils, and paper-cored nanotech cones for enhanced dynamic contrast and reduced distortion. The cabinet measures 47 x 12 x 12 inches (119.4 x 30.5 x 30.5 cm) and weighs approximately 78 pounds (36 kg). The speaker has a nominal impedance of 8 ohms (minimum 5 ohms at 270 Hz), a sensitivity of 100 dB SPL at 1 watt/1 meter, and a frequency response from 30 Hz to 12 kHz for the full-range drivers, extending to 25 kHz with the tweeter. It accepts various speaker cable terminations including spade connectors, bare wire, and banana plugs. The Omen Def Mk. 1-B was introduced in June 2012 and shipped starting August 2012 as an upgrade over the original Omen Def Mk. I-A, featuring improved nanotech drivers and tweeter assembly for better resolution, tone, and dynamic handling. It is suitable for use with both solid-state and tube amplifiers, from low to high power levels, and is known for its dynamic contrast, detailed midrange, and ability to produce a large, immersive soundstage.
