About the SET 100 Ultimate

The SET 100 Ultimate is a high-end single-ended class A hybrid amplifier delivering 120W RMS at 8 ohms. It combines the magic midrange of a small single-ended triode (S.E.T) amplifier with the scale, authority, and detail that surpasses traditional S.E.T designs. It features a specially designed single-ended MOSFET output stage directly coupled at the output using a double C-core amorphous choke as the DC current path. The amplifier has only two gain stages in the signal path, resulting in unmatched immediacy and transparency without overall feedback, keeping distortion low while maintaining sufficient output impedance to drive real-world loudspeakers. The first gain stage uses a high transconductance SIEMENS EC8010 triode powered by a separate power supply with tube rectification and choke regulation, transformer coupled to the output stage via a proprietary double C-core interstage transformer. All internal wiring and output stage wiring are hard wired with silver wire extruded to Ypsilon's specifications. The amplifier is designed to produce music in its true natural scale, offering a direct, musical sound with excellent instrument body, extended low frequencies, dynamic range, and a three-dimensional soundstage. It consumes 400W continuously and weighs 100 kg per monoblock, with dimensions of 240 x 610 x 672 mm (W x H x D).
