About the VPS-100 Mk2
The Ypsilon VPS-100 Mk2 phono preamplifier employs a split RIAA design using two gain stages based on highly reliable Siemens C3g tubes, with the 2123 Hz RIAA pole formed by an air core inductor at the first gain stage and the 50-500 Hz poles formed at high signal level at the output of the second gain stage. It uses passive RIAA equalization with inductors, capacitors, and resistors (LCR) and a custom transformer wound in-house. The power supply features a 6CA4 rectifier tube and choke filter, with AC heaters in the second stage and DC passive regulated heaters in the first stage. The construction is point-to-point wired with Ypsilon's own extruded and annealed silver wire, mounted on a rigid aluminum sub-chassis. The Mk2 update includes new input tubes (6ZH11p), output tube (EC8010), 4-pole power supply capacitors, custom Duelund copper or silver foil capacitors, and refined power supply filtering. The VPS-100 Mk2 delivers an unprecedented level of natural tonality, spatial imaging, and dynamic consistency, making it one of the world's top phono stages.
