Phaethon

About the Phaethon

The Phaethon is Ypsilon's first and only integrated amplifier, launched at High End Munich in 2014. It utilizes three active gain stages, with two stages using low-noise 6H30 valves operating in single-ended Class A for the input and driver stages. The output stage employs a 'bridged single-ended' architecture, offering the benefits of both single-ended and push-pull designs. It includes a transformer attenuator with 31 taps for precise volume control, providing a transparent sound without the discontinuity often associated with resistive attenuators. The Phaethon is equipped with separate power supplies for the tube and output stages, each using five power supply inductors for low-noise filtering. All functions are remote-controlled and displayed on an LCD screen.
