About the Aelius II
The Ypsilon Aelius II is a hybrid monoblock power amplifier that uses only two gain stages with no overall feedback, combining a single-ended class A valve input stage transformer-coupled to a push-pull MOSFET output stage. It delivers 200W RMS into 8 ohms and 350W into 4 ohms, with the first 60W operating in pure class A. The amplifier features a wide bandwidth transformer (10-75 kHz) that defines its frequency response and preserves signal purity. It supports balanced and unbalanced inputs, with a special input transformer enhancing signal path purity and allowing longer interconnect cables. The symmetrical output stage uses N-channel MOSFETs in the same polarity topology, providing balanced output connectors carrying signals in opposite phase. The power supply uses high current inductors for smooth and quiet filtering. The amplifier is noted for its transparency, refinement, and control over speakers, with a build weight of 45 kg per unit and dimensions of 425 x 425 x 230 mm (W x D x H). It is
