About the Aelius
The Ypsilon Aelius is a sophisticated hybrid monoblock power amplifier combining a single-ended class-A tube input stage using a Siemens C3g tube with a push-pull MOSFET output stage. It delivers 200 watts RMS into 8 ohms and 350 watts into 4 ohms, with the first 60 watts operating in pure class A for sonic purity. The amplifier uses an interstage transformer for perfect phase splitting and low impedance drive, preserving transparency and signal purity. It features balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) inputs with a switch to select input type, and a ground-lift switch to eliminate ground loop hum. The amplifier has a bandwidth of 11Hz to 75kHz (-3dB), input impedance of 47k ohms, gain of 29.5 dB, and output impedance around 0.25 to 0.4 ohms. It weighs approximately 45 kg (99 lbs) and measures 425 x 230 x 425 mm (W x H x D). The Aelius is noted for its transparency, power, and control, capable of driving virtually any loudspeaker with a sound characterized by clarity, dimensionality, and a spacious soundstage. It is hand-built in Greece and
