The YG Acoustics Carmel 2 is a premium two-way floorstanding loudspeaker that represents a significant upgrade over the original Carmel model. It incorporates advanced proprietary drivers including a 1-inch (27mm) ForgeCore ultra-low-distortion soft-dome tweeter and a 7.25-inch (184mm) BilletCore ultra-high-rigidity aluminum-cone mid-woofer. The cabinet is constructed from aircraft-grade aluminum billet panels, CNC-machined for exceptional rigidity and resonance control using FocusedElimination technology with a unique three-chamber sealed acoustic suspension design. Key enhancements include a redesigned curved front baffle for better dispersion, improved internal damping, and a DualCoherent crossover at 1.75 kHz with ToroAir inductors to minimize crosstalk. It delivers exceptional clarity, resolution, dynamic vividness, and surprisingly deep bass extension for its compact size, making it suitable for mid-sized rooms. Reviews praise its musicality, low distortion, and realism across complex soundfields. Originally released around 2015, it remains a reference-level speaker, though used market prices are lower and the designer has since left the company.
