About the Passion 1000

The YBA Passion 1000 is a high‑end solid‑state monoblock power amplifier designed by Yves‑Bernard André and built in France. It provides RCA and balanced XLR inputs, and two pairs of speaker binding posts per channel with different damping factors to optimize amplifier–speaker interaction and allow bi‑wiring. Output power is specified at 240 watts into 8 ohms and 380 watts into 4 ohms at 1 kHz, with an input impedance of 47 kΩ and sensitivity of 1.2 V for full rated power. The chassis is very substantial, measuring 19 inches wide by 12 inches high by 19 inches deep and weighing about 143 lb (65 kg) per monoblock, with a heavy front panel and modest rear heatsinking. The Passion 1000 uses a multi-stage, wide-bandwidth circuit with very low overall feedback and no local feedback in the output stage, aiming to minimize transient distortion, maintain musical detail, and avoid an "electronic" character. Subjective evaluations consistently highlight its clean, powerful, and controlled bass, high transparency, excellent microdynamics, and its ability to drive demanding loudspeakers with ease. It is part of YBA's Passion series, noted for its musical, analog-like presentation, and features a distinctive front-panel level indicator along with the marque's characteristically robust, elegant industrial design.
