The Yamaha TX-950 is a premium AM/FM stereo tuner introduced in the early 1990s, known for its excellent sensitivity and sound quality. It covers FM tuning from 87.5 to 108 MHz and MW from 520 to 1720 kHz, with a signal-to-noise ratio of 90dB for FM and 52dB for MW. The tuner offers 40 station presets with the ability to label up to 24 stations by name. It features two selectable antenna inputs to optimize reception, a rotary encoder tuning knob with fine tuning steps of 0.01 MHz, and two IF bandwidth settings. Yamaha's proprietary Computer Servo Lock (CSL) tuning system automatically switches between phase-locked loop and servo tuning modes depending on signal strength, enhancing reception stability. The tuner employs Yamaha's Absolute Linear Phase IF Amplifier circuitry for improved selectivity, interference rejection, and low distortion.
