The Yamaha MCX-1000 MusicCAST server is a digital audio server featuring an 80GB built-in hard drive that functions as a CD player, recorder, and ripper. It allows high-speed storage of CDs to the internal hard disk and wireless streaming of music to compatible MusicCAST clients such as the MCX-A10. The device is targeted at users with large CD collections who want a dedicated digital music system independent of a computer. It supports optical and coaxial digital audio inputs and outputs, analog RCA inputs and outputs, and includes a PCMCIA IEEE 802.11b wireless card for Wi-Fi connectivity. The MCX-1000 also features a 2-line by 16-character front panel display, a large remote control with navigation buttons, and the ability to control Yamaha AV receivers via RS-232C connection. It can automatically rip CDs to the hard drive with metadata from Gracenote CDDB and supports CD burning with Advanced AudioMASTER technology. The unit weighs over 25 pounds and measures approximately 5 x 17 x 17 inches (HWD). It is designed for high-quality sound and multi-room wireless audio distribution within the home.
