The Wyred 4 Sound SX-500 mono amplifiers are compact Class D monoblocks delivering 250 watts into 8 ohms at 0.2% THD+N and over 500 watts into 4 ohms, using ICEpower modules enhanced by Wyred 4 Sound's proprietary input stage for improved low-end extension and overall smoothness. Typical distortion is 0.0027% at 10W into 8 ohms, with output idle noise around 80 microvolts, dynamic range of about 115 dB, and frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz within plus or minus 0.3 dB, with a lower bandwidth of 3.3 Hz for all loads. The design incorporates a high damping factor of approximately 2000 at 100 Hz and 8 ohms, low output impedance, and stability into 2-ohm loads, giving excellent control over a wide range of loudspeakers. A proprietary FET-based input stage provides both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs with high input impedance and very low noise for transparent integration with solid-state or tube preamps.
