About the DAC-2 DSD

The Wyred 4 Sound DAC-2 DSD is a high-performance evolution of the original DAC-2, built around the ESS ES9018 Reference Audio 32-bit Sabre DAC with integrated jitter reduction and oversampling. It adds support for 32-bit/384 kHz PCM and DSD64/DSD128 via a galvanically isolated asynchronous USB 2.0 input, while retaining the fully balanced architecture, defeatable 32-bit digital volume control, dimmable display, home-theater bypass and extensive input complement (USB, two S/PDIF coaxial, two Toslink, AES/EBU, plus balanced I2S over HDMI) of the base DAC-2. The DSD version incorporates key upgrades such as custom Vishay Z-Foil resistors, ultra-low noise discrete regulators, ultra-fast recovery Schottky diodes, premium inductors and an 82-femtosecond Femto Grade clock, yielding improved noise performance and timing precision over the standard model. Specifications include a signal-to-noise ratio better than 115 dB, frequency response linearity within ±0.075 dB from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, and output impedance of 100 ohms, ensuring low noise, low distortion and highly linear conversion. A full-function remote, flexible menu system, and upgradable digital/output/USB boards complete the feature set.
