About the DAC-1 LE

The DAC-1 LE is an upgraded version of the original DAC-1, designed to remain competitive by adding full DSD functionality (up to DSD256) and a modern Amanero USB receiver with galvanic isolation. It uses the ESS Reference ES9018 32-bit DAC chip capable of processing PCM signals up to 32-bit/384kHz and DSD up to 128x (DSD256). The DAC-1 LE features proprietary discrete analog output stages with dual-differential FETs and Dale RN55d resistors for a clean, transparent, and natural sound. It has a fully balanced internal design benefiting both balanced and single-ended outputs with common-mode noise rejection. The unit includes a VFD display showing input selection and sample rate, and front panel controls for input scrolling and mute. Inputs include USB, coaxial, and optical, with the USB input upgraded to support higher resolution and formats. The DAC-1 LE is housed in a robust, industrial-quality chassis measuring approximately 14" x 8.5" x 4.25" and weighing about 15 lbs. It is recommended to allow 200 hours of break-in for optimal sound quality. The DAC-1 LE was offered at the same price as the original DAC-1 ( ) but with significantly enhanced capabilities, including DSD playback and improved USB input.
