About the DV500

The Well Tempered Lab DV-500 is a precision turntable designed to provide a stable and high-performance platform, especially optimized for the Dynavector DV507 tonearm. It features a dual-layer acrylic and aluminium sandwich construction for the plinth, combined with multi-layer plywood encapsulated in anodised aluminium plate, and incorporates squash ball isolation between Sorbothane layers for superior damping and vibration isolation. The platter is made of translucent acrylic with an anti-static foam mat. The main bearing is a unique 'zero clearance' design, enhancing rotational stability and reducing noise. The drive system uses a 0.004 inch polyester thread belt with a specially designed motor pulley to accommodate the belt knot, driven by a servo-controlled motor with anti-vibration mounting. It supports nominal speeds of 33 and 45 RPM with electronic speed control and includes 12V and 24V output sockets to power compatible phono stages. The turntable measures approximately 480mm wide, 410mm deep, and 195mm high, weighing about 11 kg. The DV-500 is designed and manufactured in conjunction with Dynavector and is intended to be used with the DV507 tonearm, which is sold separately. This model is discontinued but remains highly regarded for its engineering and sound quality.
