About the Amadeus Junior
The Well Tempered Lab Amadeus Junior is a rebirth of the original Amadeus turntable, designed by former aerospace engineer William Firebaugh. It features a multilayer plywood plinth finished in black, available with either the innovative 10.5" golf ball tonearm or the upgraded Symmetrex tonearm suspended in silicone fluid for variable damping. The turntable uses a 'zero clearance' frictionless platter bearing and a 0.004" polyester thread belt driven by a servo-controlled motor with vibration-controlled mounting, resulting in vanishingly low wow and flutter. The tonearm includes easy azimuth adjustment, a fixed headshell with no complex setup, and polyester thread suspension providing anti-skate. The platter is acrylic with a cork mat, and the plinth includes squash ball isolation feet for vibration damping. The power supply is a 12 VDC, 500 mA unit. The Amadeus Junior is praised for unmatched tonal stability, low record noise, and minimal maintenance requirements, making it a highly regarded turntable at a moderate price point around .
